Overview
Avessa is a social travel app that helps you discover authentic places and connect with travelers and locals wherever you go. Whether exploring a new city or deepening your connection to your own, Avessa turns strangers into community.
The app features a Discover feed showing nearby travelers, places, and events; an interactive Explore map with category filters; detailed place and event pages with photos and descriptions; and traveler profiles where you can learn about others and start conversations.
Built as a solo full-stack project, Avessa combines Next.js with Supabase authentication, Leaflet mapping, and a mobile-first design. The product demonstrates how thoughtful UI, location context, and real-time data can create confident, authentic travel experiences.

- Discover feed showing nearby travelers, places, and events with preference-based filtering
- Interactive Explore map with category toggles (e.g., food, nightlife, culture) and custom markers
- Detailed event pages (e.g., Sunset Sessions) and place pages (e.g., El Nacional) with photos and context
- Traveler profiles with bio, interests, and messaging capability
- Location-aware interface with city selection (e.g., Berlin) and personalized recommendations
- Google OAuth authentication and profile editing for preferences and travel style
